Deactivation or Deletion? What's the difference?
Deactivating Your Account: When you deactivate your account, it's like putting your account on pause. Your account will be inactive, but all your data will be preserved, and you can reactivate it by emailing the email address in the 'contact us' at the bottom of the community page, and one of the team will reactivate it for you. While your account is deactivated, you might still receive emails from us, as we may try to reach out to encourage you to return.
Deleting Your Account: Deleting your account is a permanent action. All your data will be permanently removed, and you will no longer receive any emails or communications from us. Once deleted, your account cannot be recovered.
If you're just taking a break, deactivating might be the better option. But if you’re certain about leaving for good, deleting your account will permanently remove all your information.
How to deactivate yourself from the community?
You can do this yourself easily.
- Click on Hi, [your name]
- Click on My account
- Click on the tab Personal Info
- Click on the option EMAIL & PASSWORD
- At the bottom of the screen, underneath "SAVE CHANGES", you will find Click here to deactivate your account link
- Click this, and it will give you a popup window with a Why are you leaving questionnaire.
- Pick one of the options and click "Deactivate Your Account".
- You will be signed out. If you try to sign in, it will say the following error message: This account has been deactivated. Please contact us if you wish to reactivate it. Please click on the contact us button at the bottom of this community to reach out to the team to reactivate the account.
How to be deleted from the community?
Due to data protection laws that vary based on your location, the process for account deletion differs from deactivation. To request deletion, please email the community team with the subject line "Delete me from the Community." You can find the email address in the Contact Us section at the bottom of the community. In your email, include a brief reason for leaving, and the team will process your request.
If you ever wish to return, we'd be happy to welcome you back. Simply sign up again for the community.
